So much to talk about.
I went to Vegas this last weekend, though I can’t really say I saw Vegas. I literally worked from 11 am until 1 am each and every day. I’m not sure how I’ve gotten to this place in my life, but I was the sound girl for the biggest burlesque competition in the world, and somehow I didn’t fuck it up. In fact, I kicked ass. You know I am not one to brag, or even take fucking credit for my own successes most of the time, but I really am proud of the job I did for these people. It’s sappy, I know, but it really made me feel like I made a big contribution to something I’m very passionate about, and nothing beats that feeling. I did such a good job, in fact, they called me and asked me to do the final night as well, because they wanted someone they could trust. In addition, from a set of headphones, I did a huge part to stage manage the last half of the show, which is my really real passion
That’s 3 days of burlesque.
120 performers.
6 hours solid, per day.
By the end of the last night, I could care less if I ever saw another pastie as long as I lived, but when I was told I would pretty much have a sound position for the rest of my life, it made it all worth it.
So thanks to all of you who encouraged me to take this position, I’m glad you had enough faith in my abilities to convince me to go for it.
I wish I had some crazy stories to tell you all about Vegas, but literally, it was eat, sleep, drink coffee and work. And hobnob, as Dane likes to call it. Oh, and promote the hell out of our own burlesque convention, Miss Emerald City. Oh yeah, guess who our host will be if she’s not already booked? Margaret Cho. Yeah. We aint fucking around.
Also, congratulations to Vienna Le Rouge, for her win for “Most Classic” performance!
Here’s to a job well done!
