I wish someone would steal it from me so I don’t have the urge to come up with a new talent.

How Fitting.

I just handed my daughter “A Wrinkle in Time.”

She hasn’t said a word in 45 minutes, immediately engrossed in it. I also got her this really cool kids Dictionary, so she can sit and look the words up that she doesn’t know.

She’s going to be 11 in less than two weeks. That’s terrifying, yet reassuring, because she really is such a good kid, and by this age I was doing some pretty rancid things.  I know, I know, I better enjoy this last month of having my daughter, because once school starts, MIDDLE SCHOOL, she’s going to change, possibly overnight. I’m freaking out, but I also know that she and I have this amazing groundwork built and a very honest relationship, and I hope that will help us through some of these trials we’re coming up on.

These are the years I’m most afraid of, not the teenage years. She’s still such a child, such a baby in my eyes – it will be so hard to accept the bruising of her innocence. At 16. . . 17. . .I know it will still be hard but at that age but I think it will be a little more tolerable for me, because at that age I guess it’s something I would expect. I guess that may seem like a negative attitude, but I feel I’m just being realistic.

We’re getting her a pair of sugar gliders for her birthday.
